Mario holds a PhD in Bioengineering and Biosciences from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, where he specialized in Biomedical Engineering. Currently, he holds a Tenure Track position in Biomedical Engineering with research interest spanning across methods and applications of Artificial Intelligence. In the past ten years this included methodological contributions and health applications of Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Decision Support Systems, Internet of Things, and GenAI. Mario applied those methods to a wide range of data and signals, spanning from genetics, cancer, diabetic conditions, COPD, CVDs, neurological and musculoskeletal conditions. Mario has supervised few tens of undergrad and postgrad students’ project, has been lecturing deep-learning, health information systems and biomedical signal processing for many years. He is assistant editor for top biomedical engineering journals and authored more than 50 scientific papers on peer-reviewed journals on the above topics. Mario has been PI and CI for several research projects financed by Ministry of Health, Ministry of Research and private companies.
