III yr. Ph.D. student
BIOGRAFIA
Martina Sassi was born in Rome, Lazio, Italy. She received a bachelor’s degree in clinical engineering from Università degli studi di Roma La Sapienza in 2019 and a master’s degree in biomedical engineering with a curriculum in biorobotics and bionics from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in 2022. In June 2022, she began working as a biomedical researcher at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, focusing on upper limb biomechanics. This professional experience led to a decision to pursue further research in orthopaedic sports medicine and rehabilitation. Since November 2022, Sassi has been a PhD student in Bioengineering, Applied Science, and Intelligent Systems at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, in collaboration with the Research Unit of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery at Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, under the supervision of Professor Umile Giuseppe Longo.
Her research focuses on developing an AI-based system for remotely monitoring patients during rehabilitation sessions, even in home-environments. This system analyzes both biomechanical and physiological data, providing innovative strategies for personalized rehabilitation programs, with the goal of optimizing patient outcomes and enhancing the overall efficiency of healthcare delivery. She is also involved in other projects, leveraging AI models to aid in medical diagnosis and to monitor patients throughout the entire clinical pathway.
