Research Areas

Biomedical signal and image processing

Our lab is strongly specialised in the analysis of medical and biological signals and images, using state of the art methods and tools, including Artificial Intelligence. In particular, we are passioned about real-life monitoring and measures via unobtrusive and non-invasive technologies (e.g., wearables, IoT). Yet, our team is versed into advanced techniques of brain imaging for source identification and connectivity.

Biomedical Engineering for global health

For the past 60 years, biomedical engineering has been mainly focused on science and technologies for biology and medicine. The recent pandemic made evident that BME community must put more effort in supporting public health at global level. Leveraging on lab team members’ experience in Africa and ongoing partnership with WHO and other global NGOs, the lab has put an increasing effort into this area of research, with significant innovative projects and solutions.

Medical Device and digital health

The lab is versed into regulatory sciences, Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and Health Technology Management (HTM), Evidence Generation in Medicine with particular focus on medical devices and digital health. We support manufacturers, particularly SME, in navigating the journey from ideas to innovative products and services.
